heat fix the specimens, if you want to get a really interesting specimen go buy some agar plates and swab the inside of your nose, then plate the specimen on the agar plat using the pure culture technique, you cold look it up online to see how to do it, then let it grow for a few days, when you get a colony to grow, probably going to be staph, get a piece of metal and run it through some fire to sterilize it, then get a drop of water and put it on the slide, then sterilize the wire again and get some of your staph off the plate and put it on the slide and mix it around in the water, after that you should take the slide and run it through the fire just until its too hot to hold on the the top of you skin, dont over heat fix it, then add you dye and look at it under the microscope, you do not need a slide cover, you might beable to see it with your microscope. :)) have fun.
