I have a friend that...?

She may be "on track," but she's not there yet. She's not yet fully gotten herself together, or else she wouldn't so desperately be trying to fill the void (no pun intended). Have you examined your feelings for her? Are they more than platonic? Are you jealous that she would choose these kinds over you? You may just be legitimately concerned as a friend. You two do have a long history and all. I find that you can't save people from themselves. If she's determined to be self-destructive, she'll find a way. She's lucky to have you there to pick up the pieces, I guess. Good luck.
